Deutsche WindGuard supports Energiekontor UK in the development of first subsidy-free wind farm in the UK

Financial close for the first subsidy-free wind farm in the UK

Varel (renewablepress) - Maintaining their long-standing collaboration, Deutsche WindGuard Consulting GmbH has supported Energiekontor UK in the development of the Withernwick Wind Farm Extension, which is believed to be the first subsidy-free wind farm to reach financial close in the UK.

WindGuard assisted Energiekontor in the realization of the original Withernwick Wind Farm back in 2010 by preparing the bankable wind resource assessment which formed the basis of project financing. Therefore when planning for the extension began back in 2017, Energiekontor once again turned to WindGuard for trustworthy professional advice.

“WindGuard has been a reliable partner throughout the Withernwick project, being very flexible to our changing requests regarding configurations, layout optimization and suitability assessments of the extension wind turbines”, says Victoria Allen, Finance and Construction Project Manager for Energiekontor UK.

The successful conclusion of the Withernwick Extension solidifies the long standing business relationship between the two companies. In this post-subsidy age, the UK onshore business will become increasingly challenging for project developers; therefore now more than ever it is of vital importance to have sound expert advice from independent wind energy professionals. WindGuard looks forward to meeting these challenges head on as Energiekontor continues to pursue bigger and bolder projects across the UK in the future.
