EDF Names MHI Vestas as Preferred Supplier for US Offshore Wind Project

Atlantic City, USA - EDF Renewables North America has selected MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as the preferred supplier for the Nautilus Offshore Wind project off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The pioneering offshore wind project, the first in New Jersey, has plans to feature three V164-8.3 MW turbines from MHI Vestas, taking the company’s V164 platform to the US offshore wind market for the first time. Nautilus Offshore Wind’s installation timetable is ahead of other US projects with plans to be operational as soon as 2020.

Nautilus Offshore Wind will be located in state waters and is already fully permitted. The project is currently under review by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities for approval of an offshore renewable energy credit (OREC) agreement.

“We’re proud to be named as preferred supplier for the Nautilus Offshore Wind project and look forward to bringing our flagship V164 turbine to the US market with EDF Renewables,” said MHI Vestas CEO, Philippe Kavafyan. “The agreement today demonstrates our commitment to offshore wind and our ambition to establish New Jersey at the forefront of the US offshore industry,” said Tristan Grimbert, president & CEO of EDF Renewables North America. “EDF Renewables has a long-standing relationship with MHI Vestas in the UK offshore sector, as well as with its parent company, Vestas, having installed more than 2 GW of turbines onshore in North America.”
