Nordex Group Continues Series Of Orders

Hamburg, Germany - Following the mega order for 377 megawatts (MW) from Brazil, wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has received another major order for a Texas wind farm with a total capacity of 300 MW. Nordex will also be supplying 12 turbines with a total capacity of 50 MW for a Scottish wind farm on which infrastructure work is already underway.

Nordex Group receives 300 MW order from the USA

Nordex has secured a major order for a total of 300 MW in the USA. Nordex is supplying 67 N155/4.X turbines to Texas for the "El Sauz" wind farm. The order also includes a service contract for the turbines for a period of five years. The wind turbines will be delivered in 4.5 MW operating mode and are scheduled for installation in the summer of 2022.

"El Sauz" is located in south Texas near Raymondville. The project was developed by renewable project developer and operator Apex Clean Energy and is owned and operated by JERA Americas. JERA Americas is the U.S. subsidiary of international energy provider JERA Co, Inc. (JERA), which produces 30 percent of Japan's total electricity. JERA was formed as an alliance of Tokyo Electric Power Group and Chubu Electric Power Group.

"We are looking to accelerate the transformation of our energy supply to more sustainable forms of energy and this project marks the beginning of what we plan to be a substantial and growing commitment to renewables in this state and across the country", said Steven Winn, CEO of JERA Americas. "We are delighted to be working with JERA Americas on El Sauz" said Nordex CSO Patxi Landa, who was particularly pleased that JERA Americas has chosen Nordex technology for its first US project.

Nordex to supply 12 N133 turbines for Scottish 50 MW wind farm

Nordex has also received a further order from Scotland. Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust (ORIT), managed by UK-based Octopus Renewables Limited, has awarded Nordex a contract to supply 12 N133 turbines in optimized operating mode of 4.165 MW for the "Cumberhead" wind farm in Scotland. In addition to the delivery, the order includes a service contract for the maintenance and repair of the turbines with a term of 25 years.

The 50 MW "Cumberhead" wind farm is being built in the county of South Lanarkshire. Infrastructure work has already started on site, enabling the wind farm to be fully operational by the end of 2022.

Nordex stock unable to benefit from orders

In a generally weak stock market environment, Nordex stock declined by 4.1 percent to EUR 14.82 last week (December 03, 2021, closing price, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). At the start of the new trading week, Nordex is continuing the trend. Currently, the share price is down 1.21 percent at EUR 14.64 (10:32 a.m., 06.12.2021, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
