juwi Operations & Maintenance GmbH expands range of services to include maintenance for large-scale battery storage systems

- Service offering for large-scale battery storage systems includes maintenance, repair and troubleshooting

- Operations management for storage component in Germany's first wind+storage project in Schmölln

Wörrstadt (renewablepress) - The operations management subsidiary of the renewable energy specialist juwi is further expanding its range of services. In addition to the technical and commercial management of wind and solar energy plants, juwi Operations & Maintenance GmbH (juwi O&M) now also offers operational management for large-scale battery storage systems. "With our highly qualified service technicians in the wind and solar sectors and a wealth of experience of more than 25 years in operations management, we have the know-how to take over the maintenance and troubleshooting of large battery storage systems," says Lorenz Heinen, commercial director of juwi O&M.

This wealth of experience also convinced the manufacturer of a battery storage system for a plant in Belgium. Since November 2021, juwi O&M has been taking care of maintenance and troubleshooting for the 10-megawatt lithium-ion storage system, which is used to stabilize the power grid and buffer peaks in both power generation and demand.

For juwi O&M, the maintenance and operational management of storage facilities is an important future market. "In order to stabilize electricity grids in the future and enable a permanent power supply from renewable energies, energy storage systems are of great importance. We want to develop this market with our qualified personnel," says Heinen. Among other things, they have medium voltage switching authorizations including thermography and hydraulic expertise for cooling systems.

Soon, the company will also take over the operational management of further battery storage facilities. In Schmölln (Brandenburg), juwi is currently implementing a wind+storage project - the first of its kind to win an innovation tender issued by the German Federal Network Agency. The lithium-ion storage system in Schmölln has a capacity of three megawatt hours. juwi O&M is responsible for the operational management. The same applies to the 3.7-megawatt hour battery storage system of the approximately ten-megawatt solar park in Seckach (Baden-Württemberg). Here, juwi O&M is also responsible for service.

From May 11 to 13, plant operators will be able to see the services offered by the operator for themselves at Intersolar, the world's leading trade fair for the solar industry in Munich. The joint stand of juwi and MVV is in Hall A5 at Stand A5.470. The companies are looking forward to your visit.
