Agreement: Notus Energy Plans Big Wind Farms in the Ukraine

Potsdam, Germany - The Potsdam-based Notus energy Group and representatives of the Odessa regional administration on 4 March 2020 signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" for the development of three wind farms near Odessa.

In April 2019 Notus energy has acquired the rights to build the wind farms, which are currently planned with around 50 wind turbines and a total capacity of around 300 MW. Notus will also be responsible for the structured financing, technical planning, construction and operation of the turbines.

The projects are located in the district of Ovidiopol, around 30 kilometres west of the Ukrainian Black Sea metropolis. The three wind farms are to be built near the municipality of Libental (approx. 120 megawatts) and on the outskirts of the villages of Roksolany and Ovidiopol (approx. 180 megawatts).

In the meantime, Notus energy has started preliminary work. "We are confident that the central government in Kiev will end the current discussions about the amount and duration of the feed-in tariffs very soon and with a positive result for the renewable energy sector. We want to lay the first foundations before the end of this year," explains Hannes Otto, authorized signatory of Notus energy. Commissioning is expected in 2022.
