Wind Market Poland: VSB Successful In Polish Auction For Renewable Energies

Wroclaw, Poland / Dresden, Germany - The VSB Group from Dresden has secured the largest awarded volume of the bidding round in the December 2021 auction for renewable energies of the Polish Energy Regulatory Authority in Poland. The company has thus made a successful start to the new year.

In the second government tender in 2021, the project developer placed two wind energy projects with a capacity of 123.2 megawatts (MW) and 41.6 MW respectively. This brings the total awarded capacity to 164.8 MW. VSB was able to secure high surcharge prices for both bids over a remuneration period of 15 years.

The wind energy projects are located in the voivodeships of Wielkopolska and Silesia. The goal is to commission the wind farms by 2025. Together with the Baranów-Rychtal wind farm currently under construction, the total capacity of the Polish VSB projects awarded in the 2020 and 2021 auctions amounts to over 200 MW.

"Our successful participation in these auctions shows that we are on the right track as a partner and pacesetter in the Polish wind market. A great success for a dedicated team here in Poland and at the headquarters in Germany," said Hubert Kowalski, Managing Director VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o. about the awarded projects.

VSB has been present in Wroclaw since 2008 and has already commissioned around 76 MW in Poland and has over 300 MW in service. This includes the Taczalin wind farm, which supplies 100% of green electricity to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Jawor (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). The power purchase agreement (PPA) for this was concluded in the summer of 2018.
