RE Market Poland: VSB Group Invests In Large Wind Energy And PV Hybrid Project

Wroclaw, Poland / Dresden, Germany - VSB Holding GmbH is further expanding its activities in Poland and has acquired 100 percent of the rights to a pre-developed combined wind energy and photovoltaic project in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The hybrid park, which is to be realized on an area of around 120 hectares, offers the potential for the construction of a renewable generation capacity of around 170 MW. It is planned to erect up to 10 wind turbines of the 7 MW class and a solar park with a capacity of up to 100 MWp. In the coming months, the hybrid project is to be developed to construction maturity together with an external partner. The project is expected to be ready for construction by the end of 2023.

"The combination of wind energy and photovoltaic park will get the maximum yield out of the area. With regard to the 10H distance rule in Poland, we are confident that the upcoming positive changes will give us additional impetus to make this project a success," says Hubert Kowalski, managing director of VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o.

VSB has been present in Wroclaw since 2008 and has already commissioned around 76 MW of renewable generation capacity in Poland and has over 600 MW in service. These include projects such as the Taczalin wind farm, which has a capacity of 45.1 MW and supplies the Mercedes-Benz production site in Jawor (Lower Silesian Voivodeship) via a PPA concluded in 2018. Construction work is currently underway on the Baranów-Rychtal wind farm with a capacity of 42.6 MW. Commissioning is scheduled for 2023.

VSB, headquartered in Dresden, is one of the leading full-service providers in the field of renewable energies. Its core business is the national and international project development of wind and photovoltaic parks, their operational management and the operation of its own projects. So far, more than 700 wind energy and photovoltaic plants with a capacity of around 1,100 MW (1.1 GW) and an investment volume of 1.7 billion euros have been built since 1996. VSB also provides services for plants with a total capacity of around 1,400 MW (1.4 GW). The Group has over 450 employees at 22 locations.
