Focus on Repowering: Qualitas Energy Acquires Existing Wind Farm With 32 Turbines Near Cuxhaven

Berlin, Germany - Qualitas Energy has announced the acquisition of another existing wind farm in Germany. The wind farm is located on the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony near Cuxhaven. Qualitas Energy will repower the wind farm.

All 32 turbines at the wind farm were commissioned back in 1998 and are now at the end of their service life. As part of the repowering, it is planned to install five new turbines, which will increase the total output from 17.2 MW to 21.6 MW. This will result in an efficient use of space at the site and the possibility of supplying more than 14,000 households with sustainably generated wind power.

“This acquisition expands our wind energy portfolio with a highly promising project in an excellent wind location. Qualitas Energy is committed to a long-term strategy that seeks to identify opportunities, carefully assess risks and boldly move forward to actively contribute to accelerating the energy transition,” says Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investments at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, about the project.

Qualitas Energy is currently developing more than 100 projects in Germany. The company plans to invest around EUR 1.2 billion from Qualitas Energy Fund V in the medium term to accelerate the energy transition in Germany and expand its internal project development capacity to 4,000 MW (4 GW).
