Internationalization: German Windguard Subsidiary Successful in India

Chennai, India / Varel, Germany - Two years after its foundation, Deutsche Windguard India has become an integral part of the Indian wind energy industry.

The Indian subsidiary of Deutsche Windguard offers its customers full access to the portfolio of the German wind energy consulting company - including services most recently requested by the Indian wind market such as yield assessments, power curve verification tests, power quality measurements, load simulations, design consultancy, certification support and technical due diligence.

With support from its German load simulation experts, Deutsche WindGuard India has also successfully supported two of India’s most renowned wind turbine manufacturers. The load simulations performed according to IEC 61400-01 (Ed3) are a prerequisite for the renewal of their type certificates with migration to latest IEC standards. Another manufacturer commissioned WindGuard’s experts to conduct a power quality measurement campaign according to IEC 61400-21 for his prototype turbine. The services of Deutsche Windguard Wind Tunnel Services in the areas of anemometer and wind vane sales, calibration and classification are also offered to the Indian market.

Managing Director Dr. Kumaravel Rathinavel is satisfied with the positive results and services of the company: "We are looking back on a great number of successful consulting activities already. Our Indian customers specifically appreciate Deutsche WindGuard’s worldwide reputation and profound expertise in combination with the local presence of our highly experienced team here in India", says Rathinavel.

Leif Rehfeldt, Managing Director and Head of Business Development of Deutsche Windguard in Varel, Germany, is also pleased about the successful development of the Indian subsidiary. "Our Chennai team’s high motivation and broad knowledge base and their close connection to WindGuard’s interdisciplinary expert team in Germany were the critical success factors for achieving our ambitious goals in India within these first 24 months. In addition, the success in India is a significant step in line with our general internationalization strategy”.
