Tender: Deutsche Windtechnik Awarded Contract For Comprehensive Offshore Service Work

Bremen, Germany - Deutsche Windtechnik has won an EU tender for comprehensive offshore service work at the two North Sea offshore wind farms Dan Tysk and Sandbank. Both wind farms are owned by Vattenfall (VF 51 percent) and Stadtwerke München (SWM 49 percent).

The tender was carried out by DanTysk Sandbank Offshore Wind GmbH & Co. KG. The new cooperation agreement between the operating company and Deutsche Windtechnik builds on the long-term cooperation already existing between the two companies and now, for the first time, also includes maintenance and repair work on the total of 152 Siemens SWT-3.6 MW turbines (80 turbines at the DanTysk offshore wind farm) and SWT-4.0 MW (72 turbines at the Sandbank offshore wind farm). Other elements of the agreement include maintenance of the transition pieces, lifts and cranes, and inspections at both farms. The contract is for a two-year term with options for the parties to extend.

Maintenance work will start in April 2022 from the base port in Esbjerg, Denmark. The service teams' crossings to the offshore wind farms located around 70 km and 90 km west of Sylt will start from here. In order to further minimize the logistical and time effort, the service technicians also use the offshore accommodation platform (OAP) located at the DanTysk wind farm.

"Deutsche Windtechnik provides all of the necessary services from a single source and has significant experience in the maintenance of Siemens turbines. This is an excellent basis for maintaining optimal availability at both wind farms," says Allan Overbeck, Head of Operations Nordic and Germany at Vattenfall, welcoming the cooperation.

At the Riffgat offshore wind farm in 2019, Deutsche Windtechnik was the first independent service provider to take over maintenance for Siemens SWT-3.6 offshore turbines, said Matthias Brandt, member of the board of Deutsche Windtechnik. "The experience that we gained there and our generally high level of technical competence, will now be of benefit to us in providing turbine maintenance at the DanTysk and Sandbank offshore wind farms," Brandt added.
