Positive Signals on National Market: Nordex Secures Contract For Erftstadt-Friesheim Wind Farm in Germany

Hamburg, Germany - Nordex has received an order from German wind and solar project developer REA for the delivery of 12 turbines with a total capacity of 43 megawatts (MW). The share price is climbing.

REA's order includes the delivery of eight N117/3600 turbines and four N131/3600 turbines, each with a rated output of 3.6 MW. In addition, the order includes a premium service contract for the maintenance and repair of the turbines over a period of 20 years.

The turbines will be erected at a wind farm site on the territory of the city of Erftstadt a few kilometers next to the rotating radio beacon of Deutsche Flugsicherung at the Nörvenich air base.

In August 2022, Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, together with the Federal Supervisory Office for Air Navigation Services (BAF), had reviewed the specifications for required distances between wind turbines and air traffic control and meteorological facilities and decided to reduce the necessary distances. The change is intended to create further potential for areas for wind turbines in Germany.

"We are pleased that this project can now be realized and that, in addition, the trend of solid demand in our home market is continuing. As in the first few months of the year, Germany was also one of our strongest markets in the second quarter, with orders totaling around 200 MW," says Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Central and Managing Director of Nordex Germany GmbH.

Looking ahead to the first two onshore wind energy tenders issued by the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) in 2023 with a total award volume of almost 3,000 MW, Brüggemann points to the high proportion of projects (30 percent) for which Nordex is designated as the supplier of the wind turbines. "In particular, it appears that our customers were particularly convinced by the latest turbine models in our Delta4000 series," Brüggemann is pleased with the current results.

Nordex stock is one of the few RENIXX stocks to gain today by midday. With an increase of 3 percent to 11.49 euros, Nordex even takes the lead in the RENIXX (12:30 p.m., July 6, 2023, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
