Dauerthal/Kempten (renewablepress) - ENERTRAG and green flexibility are launching their first joint battery storage project: a 60 MW stor-age facility with a capacity of 130 MWh is being built in Tantow (Brandenburg). It will store surplus wind and solar power and feed it back into the grid as needed. This will improve grid stability, reduce curtailments of renewable energies and ensure a secure power supply. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2026.

Storage creates flexibility for renewable energies

ENERTRAG has been developing and operating wind and solar parks for decades, while green flexibil-ity specialises in large-scale battery storage. The collaboration in Tantow is creating a solution that uses renewable energies more efficiently and keeps the grid stable.

The storage facility will be built in the immediate vicinity of an ENERTRAG substation on an area of around 4,000 square metres. It will balance out fluctuations in generation by storing energy when more electricity is produced than consumed and feeding it back into the grid when needed. This will allow more renewable energy to be used and grid bottlenecks to be avoided.

The project is in the final planning phase, with building permits still pending. Construction and long-term operation will be carried out by a joint venture.

Statements from the partners

Christoph Ostermann, co-founder and CEO of green flexibility:
‘With ENERTRAG, we have an experienced partner at our side with whom we can develop innovative solutions for the energy transition. Because only by working together can we successfully advance the energy transition. We are therefore looking forward to this partnership and to further coopera-tion with strong market players.’

Dr Gunar Hering, CEO of ENERTRAG:
“Battery storage is an essential component of a sustainable energy system. Together with green flexibility, we are launching a project in Tantow that will integrate renewable energies into the grid more reliably. Partnerships like this are key to making the energy transition efficient, secure and economical.”

About ENERTRAG

At ENERTRAG, we have been advancing the energy transition for over 25?years. Our more than 1,200?employees design, build and operate integrated power plants. These are based on combina-tions of wind turbines, solar installations, our own grid infrastructure, batteries and electrolysers. These technologies provide reliable, on-demand electricity, heat and green hydrogen – completely replacing fossil fuel power plants.

With our own plants, we generate around 2,000 gigawatt hours of electricity from the wind and sun every year and have been producing green hydrogen since 2011. Based on this, we are developing energy projects with a capacity of over 30 gigawatts in nine countries on four continents.

ENERTRAG embodies the global energy supply of the future: sustainable, secure and regionally an-chored – protecting our planet for current and future generations.
