EIA Can Start: Estonia Plans Offshore Wind Farm Saaremaa With More Than 1,000 MW

Arnhem, The Netherlands - Dutch consultancy Pondera is ready to start work in Estonia. Pondera has been commissioned to advise on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the planned Saaremaa offshore wind farm.

The Saaremaa wind farm will consist of a maximum of 100 wind turbines with a total capacity of more than 1,000 MW. Preparations for the Saaremaa offshore wind farm began back in 2015 with the spatial planning analysis for the development of the project. In May 2020, the Estonian government decided that Saare Wind Energy could proceed with the application procedure for the environmental permit and the accompanying environmental impact assessment, Pondera announced.

Pondera is advising Saare Wind Energy, in which Van Oord of the Netherlands is a shareholder, on this EIA and the required studies for the offshore wind farm.
