Major Order: GE Awarded Contract in Spain For Wind Turbines With 133 MW Total Capacity

Madrid, Spain - Spanish energy company Repsol has awarded GE Renewable Energy a contract to supply 22 units of the GE 6.1 MW turbine, the most powerful GE turbine installed in Spain to date.

The GE turbines, with a total capacity of 133 MW, will be distributed across six wind farms in the Delta II project in the Regiona Aragón. The Delta II project is Repsol's largest renewable energy project currently under construction, with a total capacity of 860 MW.

The rotor blades will be manufactured by GE subsidiary LM Wind Power, which has operations in Ponferrada (León) and Castellón in Spain. The towers of the wind turbines will also be manufactured in Spain, while the nacelles will be produced in Salzbergen in Germany.

In Spain, GE is one of the leading manufacturers with an installed capacity of more than 4.6 GW. To date, the company has installed 400 MW in Spain together with Repsol.
