International Wind Market: Vestas Secures Major Order From Capital Power in Canada

Portland, USA- Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has been awarded a contract to supply and commission the wind turbines for Capital Power's Halkirk II wind farm project in Alberta, Canada.

The order includes 31 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 140 MW. The order also includes a 10-year service contract.

Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.

"We’re thrilled to partner again with Capital Power to expand their wind energy portfolios in Canada, particularly with one of the industry’s highest producing onshore wind turbines. The 4 MW platform is ideally suited for Alberta’s wind environment and our strong service operations will ensure Capital Power’s projects operate at full capacity“, commented Vestas North America President Laura Beane on the order.

In the overall continued weak stock market environment, Vestas shares are down 1.6 percent this week to a price of 22.08 euros by Wednesday evening (Aug. 16, 2023, closing price, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Compared to the turn of the year, the share of the RENIXX group is currently down by around 20 percent.
