Nordex Group Receives Order from Romania and Spain

Hamburg, Germany - The Nordex Group has been active in Romania for years.

Now the wind turbine manufacturer has received an order for the delivery and installation of five N149/5.X turbines.

The wind farm is being built in the south-east of the country. The wind turbines, each with a rated output of 5.9 MW, will be installed by the Nordex Group in 2024 on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 125 metres.

The customer's name and the name of the project have been withheld at the customer's request.

Patxi Landa, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex Group: "It is good to see that after years of constant installed capacity, we are now able to implement a new project in Romania. Romania has the highest wind potential in Southeast Europe. With three wind farms with a total of 100 MW, we have been present in the country for years and also maintain two service points. In the new project, this local know-how with the long-term service contract is another plus point in optimising the power generation of the wind farm."

In Spain, the Nordex Group has received an order for N155/5.X turbines for two wind farms from the independent renewable energy producer Ibereólica Renovables. The manufacturer is supplying 11 turbines for the "Aciberos" and "Padornelo 3" projects with a total capacity of approx. 60 MW. The contract also includes the service and maintenance of the turbines for 10 years.

The wind farms are both being built in Lubián (Zamora) in the autonomous Spanish region of Castilla y León. Delivery and installation of the turbines is scheduled to begin in spring 2024.

The expansion of wind energy in Spain follows the Spanish government's updated Energy and Climate Plan 2030. According to this plan, wind power capacity on the Iberian Peninsula is to be expanded to 62 GW (62,000 MW) by 2030, including 3 GW of offshore wind power capacity.
