Orders from Southern Europe: Nordex secures further orders for 360 MW from Spain and Greece

Hamburg, Germany - In addition to major orders from Germany, wind turbine manufacturer Nordex also received orders from Spain and Greece with a total capacity of around 360 MW at the end of December 2024.

Orders for 259 MW have been received from Spain from four different, unnamed customers. The orders comprise a total of 42 turbines, including 27 N163/5.X turbines, 13 N163/6.X turbines and two N149/5.X turbines. The orders also include the service of the turbines - with a term of between ten and 25 years, depending on the project.

The wind farms are being built at locations in Castilla y León, Navarra, Andalusia and Aragón. Installation of the turbines on tubular steel towers with hub heights of between 105 and 119 meters will begin in autumn 2025, with commissioning starting at the end of 2025.

“With the orders received in summer 2024 for the major Baza Cluster project for 265 MW, we received new orders with a volume of over 524 MW in Spain last year. The proven success of our N163 turbines continues to pay off and further consolidates our good market position in the country,” says Patxi Landa, Nordex Chief Sales Officer, commenting on the orders.

Nordex also received three further orders for a total output of 100 MW from Greece at the end of December. The customer is PPC Renewables, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the PPC Group. The order comprises 19 N149/5.X turbines. The orders also include premium service for the maintenance of the turbines over a period of 20 years.

The turbines with hub heights of 100 meters will be built in three wind farms Rodopi, Livadaki and Timenio in northern Greece in the Rhodopes, in the middle of the southern mainland in Phokis and in Arcadia on the Peloponnese peninsula. The projects are scheduled for completion in 2026.

“With these new orders, we are consolidating our position as an important player on the Greek market. We have now exceeded the 1 GW mark in turbines sold and are proud of this success since we reactivated our business in Greece in 2018.And we are very pleased to now also be working with PPC Renewables,” comments Patxi Landa on the orders from Greece.

After a good start to the 2025 trading year, the Nordex share performed poorly last week. At the end of the trading week, the share was down 4.6 percent at EUR 11.30 (closing price, 10.01.2025, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Sentiment was dampened by a statement from the new US President Donald Trump, who announced at a press conference that he would pursue a policy of not building any new wind turbines during his second term in office.
