Wholesale Electricity and Balancing Market in Focus: Optimus Energy Relies on the Virtual Power Plant of Emsys VPP for the Greek Market
Oldenburg, Germany / Athens, Greece – Optimus Energy, a leading direct marketer in the field of renewable energy and provider of demand-response services in Greece, has commissioned the German technology provider Emsys VPP to supply its Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
Through the collaboration, Optimus Energy gains access to a proven Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, which according to Emsys VPP, is already successfully used by direct marketers and energy providers across Europe.
Emsys VPP has begun implementing the Virtual Power Plant and is adapting the software specifically to the needs of Optimus Energy. Measures include connecting more than 3,500 solar and wind power plants to the VPP, which retrieves data in real-time and dynamically controls power generation. Energy & Meteo Systems, a partner company of Emsys VPP, provides precise solar and wind performance forecasts for the plants integrated into the Virtual Power Plant on behalf of Optimus Energy.
Additionally, emsys VPP is supplying a tailored Virtual Power Plant for providing balancing energy services. This opens up additional revenue opportunities for Optimus Energy while also contributing to grid stability through increased operational flexibility. The service package also includes the qualification of solar and wind farms to participate in the ancillary services market.
