VSB Secures Another Wind Farm Permit: Company Plans Construction of Pfaffenhausen Wind Farm in Hesse - Construction Start in 2026

Dresden (Germany) - Project developer VSB Gruppe has received approval for the Pfaffenhausen wind farm in the Main-Kinzig district. The Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt has granted permission for the construction of five wind turbines with a combined capacity of 36 megawatts in the municipality of Jossgrund.

Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2026, subject to a successful bid in the auction held by the Bundesnetzagentur. The project предусматриes turbines of the Vestas V172 type, each with a capacity of 7.2 MW. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity annually to supply around 34,000 households.

The project will also create additional revenue for local municipalities. Under Section 6 of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG), VSB will allocate 0.2 euro cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced to the host communities. Municipalities within a 2.5-kilometre radius of the turbines are also included. According to the company, this will result in long-term benefits for regional value creation and municipal investment.

“Hesse has made significant progress in recent years in expanding wind energy and accelerating approval procedures. This helps us present new projects in municipalities and engage with local communities in a constructive and cooperative way,” said Thomas Winkler, Managing Director Germany at VSB.

VSB CEO Felix Grolman emphasized the strategic importance: “Every new turbine not only brings us closer to a climate-neutral energy future but also strengthens energy security in Germany and across Europe.”

VSB has been active in the development of wind and solar parks across Germany and Europe since 1996 and is currently advancing several projects in Hesse, including expansions and repowering of existing sites.
