WindEurope 2026: VSB Focuses on Repowering and Hybrid Parks to Accelerate Wind Energy Expansion in Europe

Madrid (Spain) / Dresden (Germany) - At WindEurope 2026 in Madrid, the VSB Group, part of TotalEnergies, is placing repowering at the center of its strategy as a key lever for accelerating wind energy expansion in Europe. The company aims to demonstrate how energy policy goals can be translated into concrete projects.

VSB is active in Germany, Poland, France, Finland, Italy, and Croatia, and according to its own statements, has implemented more than 750 wind and solar installations since its foundation. Its current project pipeline exceeds 20 gigawatts in the areas of wind energy, photovoltaics, and battery storage.

As an example, the company cites the Löberitz wind farm in Germany. There, five older turbines are to be replaced by three modern Vestas V172-7.2 turbines. This increases installed capacity from 4.25 MW to 21.6 MW. The expected annual energy yield rises from 6.44 GWh to 65.7 GWh.

At the same time, VSB is increasingly focusing on hybrid parks, where wind and solar installations share a common grid connection point. In Löberitz, the repowering project is being combined with a 19.99 MW photovoltaic system. A battery storage system is also planned for the future.

According to the company, such hybrid parks enable more efficient land use, better utilization of grid connections, and higher yields. VSB is currently pursuing a similar concept in Poland with a 303 MW photovoltaic park and a planned battery storage system. A wind farm is also expected to be added there in the future.

“Europe needs not only ambitious targets, but also their consistent implementation in approved, financed and realised projects,” says Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group. “We translate energy policy objectives into tangible infrastructure - from greenfield developments and hybrid concepts to the repowering of existing wind farms.”

WindEurope 2026 is considered one of the most important industry gatherings for European wind energy, with around 16,000 expected participants and more than 500 exhibitors.
