Nordex Pushes Forward Development: N175/6.X Turbine Receives 7.3 MW Operating Mode and new Hybrid Tower Options for Higher Yields - Stock Rises

Hamburg (Germany) - Nordex is expanding its successful Delta4000 turbine platform with several innovations for the N175/6.X. A new operating mode as well as additional hybrid tower options are intended to increase energy yields, reduce costs, and enhance the turbine’s flexibility, particularly for deployment in key European markets.

With these new options, the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex, listed in the renewable energy stock index RENIXX World, continues its product strategy aimed at optimizing onshore wind projects. The focus is on a performance upgrade of the N175/6.X to 7.3 MW for higher annual energy production, as well as new tower configurations for Germany and Europe. In addition, Nordex reports the certification of a 179-metre hybrid tower from Max Bögl at WindEurope in Madrid as another milestone for the N175/6.X.

Higher performance for the N175/6.X: 7.3 MW mode increases energy yield

Nordex is introducing a new operating mode with a rated power of 7.3 MW for the N175/6.X. According to the company, the so-called Power Mode increases annual energy production by up to 1.7%, while the sound power level remains unchanged. This makes the upgrade particularly relevant for sites where higher yields without additional noise emissions are essential.

With this new operating mode, Nordex is further enhancing the economic performance of the turbine. The goal is to further reduce the levelized cost of electricity in key onshore markets. The combination of a large rotor diameter and optimized operation is expected to deliver additional yield advantages, particularly in regions with medium wind speeds.

This latest development is based on the platform’s strong market position. More than 3 GW of binding orders for the N175/6.X have already been secured, confirming strong demand for the turbine across a wide range of site conditions, according to Nordex.

Tower innovations for Germany and Europe: 162.5 m and 179 m hybrid solutions strengthen project pipeline

In parallel with the new operating mode, Nordex is continuing to advance tower development for the N175/6.X. A new concrete-steel hybrid tower with a hub height of 162.5 metres is currently under development. Type certification is planned for later this quarter, with first deliveries expected in the second half of 2026.

In Germany, this configuration opens up new deployment opportunities: under a maximum permitted construction height of 250 metres, projects can now combine the N175/6.X with the 162.5-metre tower. The aim is to achieve higher energy yields, particularly at sites with low to medium wind conditions, which additionally benefit from the turbine’s large rotor.

In addition, Nordex achieved another certification milestone at the WindEurope conference in Madrid. On 21 April 2026, the independent certification body TÜV SÜD issued the type test certificate in accordance with DIBt guidelines for the 179-metre hybrid tower of partner Max Bögl. This certification is a prerequisite for permitting and implementing corresponding projects.

With this certification, the N175/6.X now has a second approved hybrid tower variant available in addition to its in-house solution. Nordex CEO José Luis Blanco states: “With these developments, Nordex continues to focus on performance optimization, certification stability and customer-oriented solutions, reinforcing the competitiveness of the N175/6.X turbine and supporting reliable project execution in increasingly dynamic and opportunity-rich market environments.”

Nordex shares on the rise
