VSB Starts Construction of Liethe-Lehmden Repowering Project: Its First Wind Farm in Lower Saxony
Dresden – VSB Group has begun construction of the Liethe-Lehmden repowering wind farm in Rastede, Lower Saxony.
Three Vestas V150 turbines with a combined capacity of 18 MW will replace four NEG Micon NM52 turbines of 0.9 MW each. Installed capacity will thus increase from 3.6 MW to 18 MW. According to VSB, electricity generation is expected to increase more than tenfold, and the wind farm is expected to supply the equivalent of around 11,300 three-person households.
VSB is currently setting up the construction site and building access roads. At one of the turbine locations, the soil is waterlogged and peaty in places; additional measures are intended to keep the area dry and load-bearing. Preparatory work for the foundations is scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Dismantling of the existing turbines is planned from February 2027, and the new components are due to be delivered from June. Commissioning is planned for late summer 2027.
“The start of construction brings our plans to life on site,” said Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of VSB in Germany.
