First 9.5 MW Vestas Wind Turbine Installed at Iberdrola's Baltic Eagle Offshore Wind Farm

Berlin, Germany - In Germany, the commissioning of two further offshore wind farms with a capacity of 729 MW is planned for 2024. The offshore wind farm Gode Wind 3 (253 MW) will be built in the North Sea and Baltic Eagle (476 MW) in the Baltic Sea.

According to the energy supplier Iberdrola, the first of 50 wind turbines from the manufacturer Vestas (V174-9.5MW), each with an output of 9.5 MW, has now been installed in the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. The Baltic Eagle offshore wind project is being realized by a joint venture between the Spanish company Iberdrola and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company - Masdar from the United Arab Emirates.

In cooperation with Vestas, the remaining wind turbines will now be transported to the offshore transported to the offshore construction site in the coming months and then installed using the Blue Tern jack-up vessel from Fred. Baltic Eagle is the second of three major Iberdrola projects in Germany, alongside the Wikinger (350 MW, in operation) and Windanker (315 MW, entering the realization phase) wind farms. Together, these offshore wind farms form Iberdrola's Baltic Hub. In 2026, the Baltic Hub will have a total capacity of more than 1.1 gigawatts (GW) and trigger investments of around EUR 3.7 billion.
