Offshore wind energy exploitation is still in its infancy as an area of study in Germany. A dynamic, growing industry sector is developing in parallel. Changes are taking place in many aspects of the offshore sector, for example, in manufacturing and erection of offshore wind turbines, development of electricity generation costs for offshore electricity, political framework conditions, or in expanding the grid.

Constant chance is also a feature of the research sector and in education and training. Important background information and contributions to the development of offshore wind energy are presented in the following table.
