Calgary, Canada - Cowley Ridge is the first and oldest commercial wind facility in Canada. It began operating in 1993. TransAlta announced that the wind farm has reached the end of its operating life now.

The Pincher Creek area became over the last decades the centre one of the most prominent wind-generating regions in Canada.
