Own Genearation Portfolio: PNE Significantly Expands Power Generation Capacity With Own Wind Farms

Cuxhaven, Germany - Clean Energy Solutions Provider PNE continues to expand its existing portfolio with new wind projects.

Currently, wind farms with a nominal capacity of 207 megawatts (MW) are under construction or have successfully passed the tendering process and are in preparation for construction. For the first time, the "Saint-Aubin-du-Plain" project (12 MW capacity) in France also includes a project outside Germany.

In addition, PNE received approval for three wind power projects in Schleswig-Holstein with a total capacity of 67 MW in the first quarter. These projects are to be submitted within the framework of the next tender of the Federal Network Agency in May. The approved wind farms are the projects "Heidmoor" (36 MW), "Bebensee I" (18.6 MW) and "Bebensee II" (12.4 MW).

With around 200 MW of wind energy projects currently under construction or scheduled to begin construction in the coming months, PNE exceeds an investment volume of more than half a billion euros, according to PNE AG CEO Markus Lesser. "Never before have we had so many projects earmarked for our own generation portfolio at the same time in this phase of project development. This is a record both in terms of the nominal capacity of the wind farms and the amount of the investment," said Lesser.

PNE's corporate strategy is to continuously expand its own generation portfolio of wind farms and solar plants to a capacity of 1,500 MW/MWp by 2027. This expansion will take place in Germany, France, Poland, Italy and Spain. Based on current plans and the successful tenders, Lesser believes PNE is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming a significant independent power producer.

PNE AG's own operating portfolio currently consists of 23 wind farms with a total capacity of 320.5 MW. They generated around 509 million kWh (509 GWh) of clean electricity in 2022. According to PNE, this is enough energy to supply around 138,000 three-person households in purely arithmetical terms and saved the environment around 345,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
