Certification: Windguard Certification Accredited For IECRE Type Certification of Wind Turbines

Varel, Germany - Windguard Certification GmbH has received accreditation for type certification of wind turbines according to IECRE OD-501 (Type and Component Certification Scheme - Wind Turbines).

This makes the company from Varel one of only ten companies worldwide accredited for certification according to this standard. The accreditation certificate attests to the internationally operating certification service provider's full compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012 as well as the rules and procedures of the IECRE system. In addition to prototype, type and component certification, the scope of validity also includes design evaluation and site suitability conformity statements.

"We are thus optimally positioned for the future and have further strengthened our international market position. The type certificate according to IECRE OD-501 will be a prerequisite for global marketing of wind turbines in the future. For clients from India and the Netherlands, for example, our IECRE authorisation was a decisive criterion for selecting us as their certifier," says Lars Weigel, Managing Director of Windguard Certification, welcoming the accreditation.

Windguard Certification is an independent certification body for wind turbines and other renewable energies, accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065. The range of testing and certification services includes, among others, the certification of electrical characteristics of generation units (EZE), components and generation plants (EZA), type and project certification, conformity testing of site suitability assessment as well as certification for continued operation. In addition, Windguard Certification operates an accredited testing laboratory in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, accredited for measurements in accordance with FGW TR 3, IEC 61400-21-1, VDE 0214-100 as well as NTS, CEA and CEI 0-16.
